More about Breitling 2005 Vintage Breitling SuperOcean "Slow Counter" Yachting Bezel

This is a vintage c. 1966 stainless steel Breitling SuperOcean 2005 with a Yachting bezel. It has a rubber Tropic strap with a stainless steel tang buckle, and an acrylic crystal. It has an aluminum bi-directional rotating Yachting bezel with Arabic numerals to 60 minutes with a 15-minute countdown in red, white, and blue used for timing race starts, and a solid screw-down case back. The 42mm diameter three body solid case and lapidated lugs are polished/brushed. The dial is black with a white outer minute track, luminous white skeleton hands, and luminous round, triangular, and baton hour marker indexes. There is an aperture at 6 o'clock showing full circle, small circle and no circle for the start-stop and return-to-zero function of the "slow counter" chronograph. The luminous chronograph hand has an oversize diamond-shaped indicator that records minutes on the main dial for extra legibility. The aperture display at 6 is blank when the timer is inactive, and it exhibits a big green lume dot when it's engaged, with a small lume dot when it's paused. It's water resistant to 200 meters/660 feet, and the 14.5mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed.

This Breitling SuperOcean 2005 has a mechanical manual winding Valjoux caliber 7731 movement that's rhodium plated. It's constructed with 17 jewels, a shock absorber mechanism, and a straight-line lever escapement. It has a monometallic balance that's adjusted for temperature, and a self-compensating blued steel Breguet balance spring.

The Breitling SuperOcean 2005 was launched in 1965.
