This model was only made for 9 months), stainless steel case (which appears to be unpolished) on a stainless steel Oyster (93150) bracelet, automatic caliber 3035 movement, date window with magnifying cyclops at 3 o'clock, (quick-set), centered sweep second hand, COSC, uni-directional rotating bezel, screw-down crown, water resistant to 1000ft, R series 1988 (389XXX), diameter: 40mm, like new in original condition with Rolex box, booklet, and 6-month European Watch Company warranty.

This is a 1988 stainless steel Rolex Transitional Submariner 168000. It has an integral stainless steel Oyster bracelet (93150), and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal with a Cyclops magnification bubble over the quickset date aperture at 3 o'clock. It has a screw-down solid case back and signed Triplock winding crown that's protected by the crown guards. The uni-directional graduated rotating bezel measures decompression time to 60 minutes, with a Tritium dot and dive triangle at the 60-minute position. The 40mm diameter solid three-body case, bracelet, case back, and knurled bezel are polished/brushed. The dial is black with Tritium Rolex "Mercedes" baton hands and a centered sweep second hand with a luminous "lollipop" indicator. It has applied Tritium dot, baton, and triangular hour index markers, and an outer minute/second track. It's water resistant to 300 meters/1000 feet, and it includes a Certified Official Superlative Chronometer (COSC) rating. The 12mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Rolex Transitional Submariner 168000 has a mechanical automatic self-winding Rolex caliber 3035 movement. It's rhodium-plated, and it's constructed with 27 jewels, a straight-line lever escapement, a monometallic balance that's adjusted to temperatures and 5 positions, a shock absorber device, and a self-compensating free-sprung Breguet balance spring. It includes Microstella regulating screws, a hacking seconds device for precision time setting, and the mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz). The Rolex Transitional Submariner 168000 was produced for only 9 months in 1987/8. "Transitional" refers to the stainless steel case upgraded from 316 to grade 904L steel.
