More about Speedmaster Professional Gemini 4 RARE SS Blue Dial

This is a rare stainless steel Omega Speedmaster Professional Gemini V 3597.03.00. It has an integral stainless steel link Omega bracelet with a stainless steel double folding deployment clasp, and a Plexiglas crystal. It has a screw-down winding crown with a crown guard, and two round chronograph push buttons. There is a solid screw-down case back engraved with "“Flight-Qualified By NASA For All Manned Space Missions – The First Watch Worn On The Moon,” and the Speedmaster logo is in the center. The 42mm by 48.5 mm solid three-body case, lyre lugs, and flat black bezel with a tachymeter scale to 500 UPH, are polished/brushed. The dial is black with white luminous baton hour indices, white luminous baton hands, and a white luminous center sweep chronograph hand. Around the perimeter is a minute/one-fifth second track. There are three subsidiary dials: one with the Gemini V patch logo for the running seconds is at 9 o'clock, and there is a 12-hour register at 6 o'clock, and a 30-minute chronograph totalizer is at 3 o'clock. It has a 48-hour power reserve at full wind, and it's water resistant to 30 meters/100 feet. The 14mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Omega Speedmaster Professional Gemini V 3597.03.00 has a mechanical manual winding Lemania-based caliber 1861 movement. It's rhodium plated, with fausses côtes embellishment, and it's constructed with 18 jewels, a shock absorber mechanism, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance, and a self-compensating flat balance spring. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 21,600 vph (2.5Hz). The Omega Speedmaster Professional Gemini V 3597.03.00 was made in an edition of 50 examples for the limited Speedmaster Mission Collection cases from 1997 to 1998, and there were an additional 150, including this watch. The case contains 22 stainless steel Speedmaster watches, each with a different official NASA mission patch on its dial at 9 o'clock, from this August 1965 Gemini V to the November 1973 Skylab SL-4.
