More about Vintage Monaco "Chronomatic" Blue Dial RARE

This is a vintage c. 1970's stainless steel Heuer Monaco "Chronomatic" chronograph 1133B. This is the extremely rare, earliest publicly available version of the Monaco with the word "Chronomatic" above the Heuer shield at 12 o'clock and "Monaco" above the date at 6. There are two canted and fluted round chronograph push buttons at 2 and 4 o'clock, and the pull out winding crown is located at 9 o'clock on the left-side of the case. It has a snap-down solid faceted case back and an acrylic crystal. The inside of the case is engraved "HEUER-LEONIDAS SA – SWISS – STAINLESS STEEL." The 39.5mm by 45mm square solid two-body case, straight lapidated lugs, and flat bezel are polished/brushed. The dial is dark blue with applied faceted horizontally placed steel baton hour markers and luminous dot indices around an outer minute/one-fifth second track with additional red baton hour markers. It has twin white subsidiary dials, including a 12-hour register at 9 o'clock, and a 30-minute chronograph totalizer is at 3 o'clock. The steel baton hands have distinctive green luminous inserts. There is a red center sweep chronograph second hand, and the steel-rimmed date aperture window is at the 6 o'clock position. The 14mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Heuer Monaco "Chronomatic" chronograph 1133B has a manual winding Heuer caliber 11 movement. It's rhodium-plated, and constructed with 17 jewels, a shock absorber device, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance, and a self-compensating flat balance spring. Breitling wanted to use the Chronomatic name on it's watches and reached a gentlemans agreement with Jack Heuer that the Heuer watches would feature the wording Automatic Chronograph instead. As a result, the Heuer Monaco 1133B with "Chronomatic" were only produced for a very short period of time and are significantly rarer than the much more readily available later versions.
