This is a c. 1985 18k yellow gold Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust 16018. It has an alligator leather strap with a matching 18k yellow gold tang buckle, and an acrylic crystal. There is a screw-down solid case back, and a screw-down winding crown. The 36 diameter solid three-body case, downturned lugs, and fluted 18k yellow gold bezel are polished/brushed. The dial is black, with applied gold baton hour indices and luminous dot markers around a perimeter gold minute/second scale. It has gold baton hands with luminous inserts, a center sweep seconds hand, and a date aperture window at 3 o'clock with a Cyclops magnification lens. It has a Certified Official Superlative Chronometer rating, and it's water resistant to 100 meters/330 feet. The 12mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust 16018 has a mechanical automatic 3035 movement. It's rhodium-plated with oeil-de-perdrix embellishment, and it's constructed with 27 jewels and a straight-line lever escapement. It has a monometallic balance that adjusts for cold, heat, and 5 positions, and the patented Rolex blue Perachrom spring. It also has a Kif shock absorber device, a self-compensating free-sprung Breguet balance spring, Microstella regulating screws, and a hacking seconds device for precision time setting. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz). This Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust 16018 was introduced in 1977 and it was made until 1989. The original Rolex Datejust made its debut in 1945.
