More about Supermarine Terra Nova GMT LIMITED

This is a grade 5 titanium Bremont Supermarine GMT Terra Nova. It has a composite rubber "Supermarine" strap with a titanium tang buckle, and a domed anti-reflective, scratch resistant sapphire crystal. There is a screw down guard-protected winding crown, an automatic helium escape valve for underwater pressures on the rubberized left-side case back at 9 o'clock, and there is a screw down solid case back engraved with "THERE & BACK," the Bremont "stairway" logo, a serial number, and an inner soft anti magnetic Faraday cage. The 43mm diameter solid three-body case, downturned sculptural lugs, and knurled flat bezel, are satin/polished. The bi-directional rotating black bezel displays compass readings. There is a peripheral set of Luminova 24 hour indicators, applied luminous circle and baton hour markers, around a white luminous railroad-style minute/seconds track. It has fancy Bremont steel hands with luminous inserts, a luminous yellow 24-hour hand, and a steel second hand with a red needle tip and luminous pip on the minute/second scale. There is a steel-rimmed date aperture window at the 3 o'clock position, and the center has a textural globe motif. It has a Certified Official Superlative Chronometer (COSC) rating, and it's water resistant to 500 meters/1650 feet. It has a 42-hour power reserve at full winding, and the case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Bremont Supermarine GMT Terra Nova has a mechanical automatic self-winding caliber BE-93-2AE (modified ETA 2893) movment. It's rhodium plated, and it's specially oiled to withstand a minus 40°C temperature. It's constructed with 21 jewels, a Glucydur balance, an anti-shock device, an Anachron balance spring, a Nivaflex 1 mainspring, and a molded and skeletonized decorated rotor. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz). The Bremont Supermarine GMT Terra Nova was introduced at BaselWorld in 2014, limited to 300 examples. Bremont, working with famed explorer Ben Saunders, developed the Bremont Supermarine GMT Terra Nova for Saunders on his 2014 world record-breaking Antarctic expedition. Saunders, along with his teammate Tarka L’Herpiniere, traveled 1,795 miles by foot across Antarctica.
