More about IWC IW325101 UTC Black Dial SS

This is a stainless steel IWC UTC Pilot's Watch IW325101. It has a leather strap with a stainless steel tang buckle, and a domed scratch resistant sapphire crystal. It has a screwed-down winding crown and a screw down solid case back engraved with "DIE FLIEGERUHR UTC." It has a soft iron cover that creates an anti-magnetic shield, and the 39mm diameter solid two-body case, gently curved lugs, and angled bezel, are polished/brushed. The dial is black with painted luminous Tritium Arabic numeral hour markers and luminous baton indices, with a triangle at 12 o'clock. There is a center sweep second hand, luminous steel dauphine hour and minute hands, and there is a white luminous perimeter minute/seconds track. There is an aperture for the date at 3 o'clock, and the Time Zone Corrector (TZC) changes time zones for the Universal Time Coordinated 24-hour display. It's water resistant to 120 meters/380 feet, and it has a 42-hour power reserve at full winding. The 12mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed.

This IWC UTC Pilot's Watch IW325101 has a mechanical automatic IWC caliber C 37526 (ETA 2893-2) movement that's gilt brass with oeil de perdrix embellishment. It's constructed with 21 jewels and a straight-line lever escapement. It has a monometallic balance adjusted to heat, cold, and 5 positions, a shock absorber mechanism, and a self-compensating flat balance spring. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz).

IWC debuted their pilot's watches (Die Fliegeruhr) in 1936 and in 1998 they introduced this IWC UTC Pilot's Watch IW325101.
