More about Royal Oak Tourbillon Extra Thin SS Blue Dial EXTREMELY LIMITED

This is a stainless steel Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Tourbillon Extra-Thin 26510ST.OO.1220ST.01. It has a solid 41mm diameter three-body polished and brushed case on an integral stainless steel bracelet. 8 white gold screws secure the octagonal bezel and transparent sapphire crystal case back. The blue dial has a petite tapisserie waffle decoration, luminous applied steel faceted baton index hour markers, luminous steel baton hands, and an outer track with minute divisions. The tourbillon escapement is located 6 o'clock. It has a hexagonal winding crown, is water resistant to 50 meters, and there is a 70-hour power reserve. The power reserve indicator is visible through the sapphire caseback on the back side of the movement. The 8.85mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 26510ST.OO.1220ST.01 has a mechanical manual winding Audemars Piguet caliber 2924 movement that's rhodium-plated with fausses cotes embellishment. It's constructed with 25 jewels, 216 components, and a right-angle lever escapement. It includes a shock absorber device, a monometallic gyromax balance that's adjusted for heat, cold, and 5 positions, and a variable inertia block balance. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 3 Hz. Jaeger-LeCoultre and Audemars Piguet first produced the Royal Oak in 1972, with a custom Jaeger-LeCoultre movement. It was named for the British battleships of World War II, which in turn were named for the oak tree in which Charles II of England hid from his enemies, the Roundheads. The brilliant horologist Gerald Genta designed it. This extremely limited edition of the classic design has a prestigious movement within an ultra-thin case, and it's the first tourbillon wristwatch introduced in 1986.
