More about Vintage Oversized Chronograph Unsigned Dial SS

This is a c. 1940's vintage Unsigned Chronograph, possibly an Eska or Doxa. It has a leather strap with a steel tang buckle, and an acrylic crystal. It has a screw down winding crown, rectangular chronograph push buttons, and a solid snap down case back with the engine turned interior stamped "ACIER INOXYDABLE (Stanless Steel)." The oversized 38mm diameter solid three-body case, gently curved lugs, and flat angled bezel, are original polished. The original unsigned dial is silver with multicolored measurement scales, four gold hour dots, and large steel Arabic numerals at the half hours. It has yellow gold pointed baton hands, a center sweep steel chronograph seconds hand, and an inner black minute/one-fifth seconds scale with black Arabic numerals every 5 seconds to 60. There is a center blue concentric base scale to 1000, an outer red telemeter scale, and around the perimeter is a pulsometer scale to 200 bpm. The combination of telemeter and pulsometer is very rare. There are twin subsidiary dials with black markers, Arabic numerals, and yellow gold indicator hands, including a running small seconds register at 9 o'clock, and a 30-minute chronograph totalizer is at the 3 o'clock position. It is possibly a Swiss Eska or Doxa manufacture as both brands utilized the Valjoux 22 ebauche. It has a 40-hour power reserve at full winding, and the 12mm thick case and dial are unsigned; however the movement is marked "33." This watch has a mechanical manual winding Valjoux caliber 33 (base Valjoux 22) movement (the Valjoux 22 chronograph movement was produced from 1936-1974), with a pillar wheel subsecond. It's rhodium plated with fausses cotes embellishment, and it's constructed with 17 jewels, a Breguet hairspring, a straight-line lever escapement, and a monometallic balance. It includes a shock absorber device, a self-compensating Breguet flat balance hairspring, and an index regulator. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 18,000 vph (2.5 Hz). This 1940's vintage Unsigned Chronograph is near mint and still sharp.
