More about Vintage Ingenieur SS Silver Dial

This is a vintage 1958 stainless steel IWC Ingenieur 666. It has an integral Gay Freres/IWC stainless steel bracelet with a folding deployment clasp, and an acrylic crystal. It includes a screw down winding crown with a screw down solid case back, and an antimagnetic cap to protect the movement against magnetic fields. The 36.2mm diameter solid three-body case, curved lugs, bracelet, and flat angled bezel, are polished. It has a silver dial with applied faceted gold "boat" shaped hour indices, and luminous pips around a gold dot minute/second perimeter scale. It includes gold Dauphine hands with luminous inserts, and a gold central sweep second hand. It's water resistant to 30 meters/100 feet, it has a 42-hour power reserve at full winding, and the 13.5mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This IWC Ingenieur 666 has a mechanical automatic self-winding caliber 852 movement. It's rhodium plated, with oeil de perdrix embellishment, and it's constructed with 21 jewels, a straight-line lever escapement, and a monometallic balance. It includes a shock absorber device, a self-compensating blued steel Breguet balance spring, micrometer regulator, and a Pellaton winding system. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 19,800 vph (2.75 Hz). The IWC Ingenieur 666 was introduced in 1952, and it was produced through 1958.
