More about Santos Dumont Yellow Gold Manual Wind
This is an 18k yellow gold Cartier Santos Dumont W2006851. It has an alligator leather strap with an 18K yellow gold deployment buckle, and a curved scratch resistant sapphire crystal. It has an octagonal pull out winding crown topped with a faceted sapphire spinel, and a solid case back secured with 8 screws engraved "CARTIER – WATER RESISTANT – SWISS MADE," and a serial number. The 35mm by 44.2mm solid square tonneau case, gently curved lugs, and curved flat bezel, are polished/brushed. The dial is ivory white with painted black Roman numeral hour markers outside of square black minute scale, and black oxidized sword hands. The secret Cartier signature is in the 7. It's water resistant to 30 meters/100 feet, and it has a 43-hour power reserve at full wind. The 5.5mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Cartier Santos Dumont W2006851 has a mechanical manual winding Cartier caliber 430 MC (base Piaget 430 P) movement. It's rhodium-plated and engraved with special Cartier decoration, and a signed Cartier rotor. It's constructed with 18 jewels, a shock absorber device, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance, a micrometer regulator, and a self-compensating flat balance spring. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3 Hz). The Cartier Santos Dumont W2006851 was introduced in 2007. In 1904, Louis Cartier was asked by his Brazilian friend and pioneer aviator, Alberto Santos-Dumont, to design a wristwatch he could use during his flights instead of a pocket watch. Louis Cartier created the Santos wristwatch for him, which first went on sale in 1911.
