The dial is black with illuminated Arabic numeral and baton hour markers, an outer luminescent minute/seconds track, and white luminous steel "Spitfire" propeller-shaped hands. It has a center sweep seconds chronograph hand, and a large luminous triangle at 12 o'clock. There is a rectangular day and date aperture window at the 3 o’clock position, and there are three blue subsidiary dials, reminiscent of the altimeter in the cockpits of early planes, including a running seconds dial with a red hand at 9 o'clock, a 12-hour register at 6 o'clock, and there is a 30-minute chronograph totalizer at 12 o'clock. It has a 44-hour power reserve at full wind, and it's water resistant to 60 meters/180 feet. The 15mm thick case, dial, and movement are signed. This IWC Flieger Pilot Chronograph IW377709 has a mechanical automatic self-winding IWC caliber 79320 movement that's surrounded by a soft-iron inner case for protection against magnetic fields. It's rhodium plated, with fausses cotes embellishment, and a shock absorber mechanism. It's constructed with 25 jewels, a straight-line lever escapement, and a monometallic balance that's adjusted for temperature and 5 positions. It includes a self-compensating flat balance spring and a small hacking seconds mechanism for precision time setting. The rotor oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz).
