More about Vintage Jaeger Reverso SS Circa 1951 for Favre-Leuba Complete RARE

This is a vintage 1951 stainless steel Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso Favre Leuba. It has a leather strap with a stainless steel tang buckle, and a plexiglass crystal. It has a pull out winding crown, and a solid snap down case back engraved with "PATENT – ACIER STAYBRITE – FAB: SUISSE," and a serial number. The 38.5mm by 23mm solid rectangular tonneau 4-body case, straight lugs, and curved bezel with art deco-style striations on bands at 6 and 12 o'clock, are polished. The Reverso case is clean and untouched for personalization. The dial is aged two-tier silver with a black minute/second scale around the circular center. It has Dauphine steel hands, a center sweep seconds hand, and applied faceted dart hour indices, all beautifully "coin-toned" with different natural tints. There are applied Arabic numerals at the half-hours, and the signature on the dial with Jaeger-LeCoultre is by the retailer Favre Leuba. The 8.4mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso Favre Leuba has a mechanical manual winding Cal. 8 x 11''' movement. It's gilt brass, with "fausses côtes" embellishment, and it's constructed with 17 jewels, a straight line lever escapement, an anti-shock device, and a monometallic Glucydur balance. It includes a blued steel flat balance-spring, and the mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 18,000 vph (2.5 Hz). This Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso Favre Leuba from 1951 is a rare post-war reverso very similar to the 1930's radically designed polo watches invented by Jaeger-LeCoultre for British military officers in India.
