This is a vintage c. 1950's 18K yellow gold Patek Philippe Calatrava 565. The inside of the case back is engine turned and stamped with "PATENT – PATEK PHILIPPE & CO. – GENEVE – SWISS – REF. 565," a serial number, and several hallmarks. The 34.5mm diameter solid two-body case, screwed downturned lugs, and flat bezel, are polished. The original silvered dial has gold baton hands and applied "boat" shaped yellow gold hour indices. It has a 38-hour power reserve at full winding, and the 10mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Patek Philippe Calatrava 565 has a mechanical manual winding Patek Philippe caliber 12-400 movement. It's stamped with the Seal of Geneva quality mark, and the Patek Philippe hallmarks. It's rhodium plated with fausses cotes embellishment. It's constructed with 18 jewels, a shock absorber device, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance that's adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and 5 positions, a self-compensating Breguet balance spring, an anti-magnetic soft iron core, and a micrometer regulator. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 18,000 vph (2.5Hz). The Patek Philippe 565 was originally introduced in 1938.
