There is a snap down solid platinum case back. The 34.5mm by 39.5mm solid two-body ovoid case, sloped flat bezel, and solid snap-down case back are brushed and polished. It has an "Blue Gold" sunburst dial with applied platinum baton index markers and matching pointed baton hands. It has a 48-hour power reserve at full winding, The 5.9mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Patek Philippe Golden Ellipse 5738P-001 has a mechanical automatic winding caliber 240 movement that's rhodium plated with fausses côtes embellishment, and the Patek Philippe Seal. It's constructed with 27 Jewels, 161 components, 6 bridges, a straight-line lever escapement, a free-sprung self-compensating flat balance spring, and a shock absorber device. It includes a micrometer regulator and a Gyromax monometallic balance that compensates for cold, heat, isochronism, and 5 positions. The movement features a 22K gold microrotor with the Patek seal. It has a Spiromax balance spring, and the mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz). The Patek Philippe Gold Ellipse 5738P-001 was released in 2016. The original Ellipse was made in 1968, a departure from traditional watch shapes of the time. The design was inspired by the principle of the "golden section" discovered by ancient Greek mathematicians. The "divine" proportion, a ratio of 1/1.6180, forms as the basis of some of history's greatest works of art and architecture.
